SARAH + SIMON

A chic London wedding for @sarahjaneallard and her partner Simon. Sarah says, "We always knew that we wanted a London wedding – it’s where we met, where we live and we couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else! We also knew we wanted to keep it small and intimate, and to skip all the usual traditions, so we kept the wedding day to just immediate family and I’m so glad we did – being able to share such a special moment with just our closest family meant the world. My partner and I spent the morning getting ready together in our beautiful suite at Claridge’s, before heading to Marylebone Town Hall to say our ‘I dos’ in the Soho Room. After the ceremony, we all headed to The Audley in Mayfair for drinks before a very special dinner in one of the private rooms upstairs at Mount Street Restaurant.

"I found wedding dress shopping super overwhelming at first – there are just so many options! What really helped me was picturing the day and what I might feel comfortable in (London in October was a good basis to start from!), and then thinking about the items in my own wardrobe that I love wearing. I would describe my style as classic and understated, and I'm usually drawn to clean lines and an elegant silhouette, so that really helped me narrow it down. There were so many pieces I loved from The OWN Studio, but the ‘drop too far’ gown just felt so me – I loved the dropped waist and exaggerated proportions of the skirt with the minimal, 90s neckline. I styled it with a chiffon neck scarf as I wanted a timeless twist without the traditional veil, and some satin Jimmy Choo mules with pearl detail.

"We’d originally planned to spend some time after the ceremony having some photos taken around Mayfair. It rained on the day which meant we abandoned our photo shoot much sooner than expected, and I’m so glad we did! Arriving at the pub earlier than planned, ordering pints of Guinness and packets of crisps, and reliving every detail from the ceremony we’d just had with our family was an absolute highlight."
