WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR DRESS COLLECTION

Your dress collection booking reserves dedicated time for you to come and collect your beautiful piece from us. Here's what you need to know:

The appointment takes around 15 minutes.

You will have the opportunity to try your outfit on, but please note this is not a fitting, so we won’t be able to pin, adjust, or offer technical alteration advice during this time.

Your outfit will be finished, steamed and wrapped in protective packaging and ready to take away in a garment bag, along with care instructions to help you look after it.

OUR QUALITY CONTROL PROCESS

Before collection, every garment goes through a rigorous, careful, hands-on quality control process (across several stages and team members) to ensure the fit, fabric and finish meet our exacting standards. Garments are carefully measured to ensure they match the exact size ordered.

We take a lot of care and time — from double-checking measurements against our size charts to inspecting the fit and finish — so when you arrive at your dress collection you can be confident your piece has been made to the specifications (and most importantly the size!) you ordered.

How will the dress fit me?

You should expect the dress to feel different to the sample you tried in the studio. This is because the sample you tried in the studio may not have been the size you ordered and it will also have been clipped (and essentially fitted) to you.

Your gown has been made to your largest measurement which means it won't fit and sculpt your entire body - yet. Your measurements may also have changed a little over time, which is completely normal.

For these reasons, this is why alterations are an expected and essential part of your wedding dress journey. Even gowns that feel close to perfect upon arrival typically require expert refinement to ensure they skim, shape and support the body exactly as intended.

Our made to order gowns are crafted using standard size charts rather than individual measurements. These charts rely on key proportions such as the bust, waist and hips and so we always recommend ordering the gown to suit the largest measurement as adjustments can be made to refine the fit down (but making a dress bigger is much more tricky!)

As a result, nearly every bride will want alterations to sculpt the dress to her individual shape - this step makes the gown feel entirely your own.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR DRESS COLLECTION

You will be asked to try on your dress and look over it to confirm you are happy with the construction and finish, and that there are no marks on the fabric. We recommend avoiding transferable makeup or jewellery and washing your hands upon arrival to minimise any risk of marking or damaging the fabric.

We ask that no food or drink is brought into the fitting room to ensure there is no risk of damage to the dress. We will provide water for you and your guests. Unfortunately, as much as we love them, dogs are not allowed in the space.

Once you're happy, you’ll be asked to sign a release form confirming the condition of your dress before taking it home.

AFTER COLLECTION

Once the dress has left the studio, we cannot accept responsibility for any damage that may occur before, during, or after your event. However, if your dress is damaged after collection, we will do our best to help with repairs. Please note:

  • Repair services are subject to atelier availability
  • Repair work is chargeable
  • We will always aim to provide a cost and time estimate before beginning any work

IF YOUR DRESS WAS ALTERED BY OUR ATELIER:

When you collect your dress, it will be finished to the specifications agreed during your alterations fitting and confirmed in your fitting notes email.

What happens if I have lost weight between my alterations fitting and dress collection?

The cost of your alterations relates to one set of alterations only. This cost represents the number of atelier hours required to alter your dress, a process that can run into a number of days. Something as seemingly simple as ‘taking in the side seams’ to make it fit closer to your body can take several hours, as each layer has to be worked on individually.

We are very happy to do our best to move our schedule around to accommodate additional alterations if needed as we understand it can be a stressful time, however if substantial weight loss means that an additional fitting / further alterations are necessary, this will be chargeable because the same amount of work will have to be done once again.

What happens if I need further tweaks / alterations when I come to collect my dress?

You should expect to have one set of alterations; your dress will be ready to collect following this.

If small follow up tweaks that relate to your original alterations are needed at your dress collection and your measurements have not changed, then these can be carried out as part of the alterations package that you have already paid for.

If your measurements have changed and you would like us to make further changes to the fit, this would involve us re-working the alterations from scratch as we would need to open up the dress, make the changes and sew it back together again. We would need to quote for this work as we will be carrying out the alterations twice.

On rare occasions we may advise leaving the hem for a follow up fitting as we need to check how the alterations affect the fit before adjusting the hem. In this case we would hem the dress with your shoes at a follow up fitting; in this instance we would not charge for an additional fitting. If this applies to you, you would be advised of this in your alterations appointment.
