YOUR ALTERATIONS FITTING - WHAT TO EXPECT

WHAT TO EXPECT

please refer to the BRIDE GUIDE you have been sent for a full checklist on things to look out for during your alterations appointment.

Your fitting will be hosted by a member of our atelier team.

Your fitting covers alterations relating to the fit of the outfit. You will also be able to finalise the hem and agree the perfect length.

Please come to your fittings with the underwear and shoes you plan to wear on the day. We won’t be able to complete the fitting without your wedding shoes as we will not be able to hem the dress so you may require additional fittings if you do not bring them. These will be chargeable at £300 per additional fitting.

You must take every precaution to avoid transferring any marks onto the outfit during your fittings. For this reason please do not wear fake tan or any transferable makeup to your appointment, please also avoid wearing any jewellery that might snag the dress - you will be asked to remove any jewellery that may damage the fabric.

Please wash your hands at the start of every fitting when you arrive. We cannot be held responsible for any marks or snags that are made to the dress during your fitting.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY FITTING?

We will always send you the alteration notes agreed in your appointment, please read these through carefully as we will make the changes using this document. Any changes or additions to these notes must be provided within 24 hours of the fitting, after which work may have begun on your alterations.

WHERE IS MY FITTING?

Fittings take place at The OWN Studio atelier in Shoreditch, you will receive the address in full when booking your fitting.

UNDERWEAR RECOMMENDATIONS

While we do try and help as much as possible by recommending underwear brands and specialists, the underwear you choose to wear is your responsibility.

For shapewear,  SKIMS has an amazing range. The solution that is right for you depends on how much coverage you are looking for, just ensure they are nude and seam free.

Like anything lingerie related, there isn’t one fixed solution as we all have different shapes so it’s worth trialling a few options. When it comes to nipple covers, silicone covers work best for some, whereas others prefer the fabric covers. We recommend Nippies or Nood for our pieces.

It is common for dresses (particularly backless styles) to be fixed in place using double sided fashion tape - these strips are excellent and used by all stylists on the red carpet - so it is a good idea to have some of these to hand on the day!

Top tip -  keep the labels and tags on until you are satisfied it works with your outfit so you can return anything that you don’t use.
