When one of your own wears OWN … it’s a very special moment. Our Senior Stylist Kate married Miles this September and it was absolutely perfect. We might be biased but we’re obsessed with all the chic styling details (and her outfit, obviously) … it helps that alongside her incredible talent for fashion styling, Kate is an amazing glassblower (@bl.ow__ ) and handmade a beautiful assortment of vases, especially for the wedding.
Kate says, “We had our intimate civil ceremony at Abney Park Chapel in Stoke Newington, then headed to The Auld Shillelagh for Guinness and champagne before making our way to Tom’s Pasta for a big family-style lunch of lasagne and tiramisu. We really wanted a laid-back vibe to the day, nothing too formal and it was so special. I always knew I wanted to incorporate some pieces from my glassware brand into the day, so I created vases and pinch pots to complement our floral colour palette.
“The whole day was perfect, I’m so glad we decided to split it into three parts. The big lunch was everything I’d hoped for and more, it just felt so relaxed. I was so nervous in the lead-up to the chapel, but having that quiet moment with my dad before walking down the aisle was incredibly special. And as soon as I saw Miles waiting at the end of the aisle, all my nerves disappeared, I felt like we just laughed our way through the rest of the day after that.
“I knew I wanted to wear a dress from OWN ever since I came to the studio with my friend for her wedding appointment, a year before I started working here. For my own appointment, I had the pleasure of inviting my mum and friends, and one of our lovely stylists hosted the session. I tried on a selection of four dresses and honestly, I would have been happy wearing any of them! But as soon as I put on the corset and skirt at the end my mum and friends said it was a no-brainer. It felt so me, and I loved it even more knowing it was a two-piece with no train, perfect for an East London wedding. I styled it with vintage Prada mules and a chunky Jean Paul Gaultier ear cuff.”
