What did your skincare routine look like in the run-up to your wedding?
"I had a plan in place about six months before - LED masks and regular facials, mostly. I also tried a back facial, which was a disaster - it gave me back acne on my wedding day, which I’d never had in my life. A good lesson to avoid trying anything new too close to the day itself.
"The one treatment I absolutely loved was a laser facial at Kichi, though next time I’d give it more recovery time than the recommended 10 days, because my skin seems to take longer to settle than most. We live and learn.
"I also had lymphatic drainage a few times, which left me feeling really svelte and toned.”
Are there any treatments you wish you’d had?
“If I were getting married now, I’d add sugaring - it’s a waxing treatment that exfoliates and lasts much longer than traditional waxing.
"I’d also have one or two performance-led facials. Kichi and Dr. David Jack are both really good for things like dermaplaning, mesotherapy and laser, but I’d test them well in advance.
“I’d also build a strong at-home routine: get some really good sheet masks, under-eye masks, and an ice roller for a solid depuffing routine."
How would you describe your usual approach to makeup?
"Very natural – I love a blusher-heavy look and nothing too heavy on the eyes. My daily routine is a bit of concealer, some blusher and curled eyelashes so on the day, I wanted to look like myself, only better.
“My dress was a beautiful romantic organza gown I designed with The OWN Studio, so the whole look - soft, peachy, spring-like - needed to come through in my beauty look as well. My references came from Pinterest and Instagram, but the look only really clicked once I did a trial with my makeup artist, Kay.”
How did you find your makeup artist, and what should brides look for when choosing one?
"I actually had two makeup artists on the day. Kay Montano from Chanel did my main wedding makeup and it was a huge privilege to have her. She took so much care over creating something that would work in bright sunlight but still felt really natural. It was very dewy and blusher-heavy. She was also such a great vibe on the day, which I think is really important.
"Later on, I had Keeley Wilson for touch-ups and my evening look. I think I found her through a friend’s recommendation. She came with another makeup artist, Beth, who did my bridesmaids' makeup (I swear they’ve never looked better), and Adam, who did my hair. They were such a great team.
"My advice is to ask around - personal recommendations are so helpful. Ask friends who have got married, but also ask at your wedding dress fittings. Everyone knows a brilliant makeup artist.”
