The three-day wedding weekend is here to stay - and it’s coming home. A growing number of couples are choosing to host destination-style weddings on home soil, swapping airport queues for the particular pleasures of the British countryside.
Venues across the country are responding in kind, moving beyond the traditional single-day format to offer exclusive-hire, multi-day experiences - and couples are treating the days before and after as seriously as the wedding day itself.
“The surrounding events are definitely becoming more important - they really set the tone for the whole weekend,” says Chenai Bukutu, founder and lead planner of ByChenai Events. “Multi-day weddings also lend themselves to multicultural celebrations. Our South Asian clients often host a Sangeet the night before, or perform religious ceremonies ahead of their civil wedding.”
