HOW TO NAIL THE WEDDING AESTHETIC THAT EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT

More couples are choosing informal, relaxed celebrations this year than ever before, according to recent research by Feast It, the online events booking site. In fact, twice as many people have booked informal celebrations with marquees in fields and food trucks serving street food - as opposed to traditional events with hired venues and sit down meals.

But relaxed doesn’t mean you need to dial down the glamour - in fact we love the juxtaposition of super chic styling set against a relaxed, informal backdrop. At these weddings it’s all about creating experiences for your guests and relaxed - yet beautifully considered - decoration and food displays.

Here’s our guide to pulling off an informal wedding in a chic way:

1. UP THE FASHION STAKES

Emilie wears STYLE 035 // silk slip with seam detail £2250 and STYLE 037 // silk chiffon £600,
We styled it with BY FAR patent heels via TK Maxx £149.99, Completed Works Gold Vermeil and pearl hoops £260

Chloe wears The OWN Studio STYLE 031 // crop wrap £850 with STYLE 011 // silk satin A-line skirt £1150
We styled it with Neous Tulip crystal-embellished crepe de chine and canvas sandals £665, Alighieri The Olive earrings £295

2. ABUNDANT BUFFET

Move away from the traditional set table plan and sit down dinner and instead create a stunning abundant display of food buffet style - look to food stylists like Leila Gohar, Pepi di Boisseau and Imogen Kwok for inspiration.

3. MAXIMALIST TABLESCAPE

Maison Margaux has an incredible selection of colourful tableware for your buffet display. Think about mismatched styles, colours and textures across glassware, linen, crockery and cutlery. Another great source of inspiration is Mrs Alice who puts together the most stunning tablescapes. A fabulous event stylist like Anna at The Table Edit will work with you to bring your vision to life.

4. EXTRA STYLING TOUCHES

Think about creating lots of little nooks and cozy areas for a super relaxed vibe. Soft furnishings and parasols will create a luxe holiday-like feel to the wedding. We like the collection from Business and Pleasure.

5. CHAMPAGNE AND OYSTERS

There's nothing more chic and seductive than champagne and oysters, especially when presented en masse as a spectacle for your guests to enjoy. We love the idea of using 1961 Airstream 'The Rum Runner' as your bar, however a classic champagne tower will be equally impressive.

6. MAKE IT PERSONAL

Nothing makes a wedding more unique and personal than, well, something personal! We love embroidered linen as a way to do this. Some of our go-to (and very talented embroiderers) are Cressida Jamieson, Hand & Lock and By Eleanora.
