OUR GUIDE TO THE AMALFI COAST: SOME SECRET AND NOT SO SECRET TIPS
If it feels like everyone you know is off to Italy’s famous Amalfi Coast this summer, don’t worry you’re not alone. Even Kourtney Kardashian chose Portofino for her lavish week-long wedding ceremony in May. Searches for Amalfi Coast holidays have gone up 300% this year and given the recent lifting of COVID restrictions, Italy is welcoming tourists back and we are here for it!
Our studio manager, Ellen, was one of the pesky travellers posting their Euro summer vaycay on our Instagram feeds and although we had major FOMO, she has brought back her top tips for those dreaming about visiting the Italian Riviera:
DA ADOLFO: POSITANO
Hidden away from the crowds in Positano town, this beach-front restaurant is accessible by a private boat that will chauffer you to and from your table. After enjoying a selection of traditional dishes including fresh mussel soup, locally caught grilled fish and mozzarella on lemon leaves, a Positano classic, you can take a dip in the crystal water. On the beach that has been described as “the last paradise”, spend the rest of the day laying in the sun and soaking in the amazing-ness that is Positano.

FRANCO’S BAR: POSITANO
If you’re after something a bit busier, try Franco’s bar in Positano town. Perched above the centre of the hustle-and-bustle, this bar is famous and for good reason. With 180-degree, uninterrupted views of the Positano cliffside, you can enjoy cocktails and nibbles while watching the sun set behind the mountains. Be warned, Franco’s is not a secret so you will be queuing unless you arrive at 5pm to be first in line!

CAPRI ISLE BOAT TRIP:
If, for some bizarre reason, you’re bored of Amalfi beaches, take a boat tour around the island of Capri. Located 30 minutes by boat from Positano, Capri is another fan favourite boasting bright blue water, cliff side panorama and luxury shopping and dining. Visiting Capri is a bucket list item. My advice is to book a boat for half a day to take you in and around the island, stopping at various swimming spots and anchoring for lunch with breath-taking views (not a hard task). Your experienced captain will show you the local’s only caves as wells as the famous Faraglioni rock formations that stand alone off the coast. Bring a packed lunch of Caprese sandwiches and some Peroni’s and you’re all set!

LIDO DEL FARO: CAPRI
An (actual) hidden gem on the Island of Capri, is Lido del Faro, a small beach 20 minutes across Capri where tourists tend to forget about. If you’re lucky enough to have a day there – make the most of it! The public swim spot tends to fill up quickly so get there early for extra towel space, otherwise if you’re feeling fancy, book a sunbed at the private beach club that is built into the rock-face. That’s exactly what we did and I have no regrets. We had access to bathrooms, showers, a pool and cocktail and food service straight to our loungers and stuck around for the sunset that you can only find on the west-side of the island.
