THIS MONTH: THE WEDDING GUEST EDIT

The invites are in. The group chat is active. Now for the only decision that really matters: what are you wearing?

Thankfully, wedding guest dressing has moved far beyond frills and florals in recent years. Whether you’re buying, borrowing, renting or revisiting an old favourite, consider this an excuse to embrace colour, texture and a little personality.

Here, our fashion team shares the pieces, palettes and styling ideas worth considering for the season ahead.

Back to black by Coco

Long gone are the days when black was a wedding guest no-go. Now, it’s an incredibly chic option that feels particularly of the moment when paired with a pop of colour, I love this dusky pink Jude mule. Choose a gown with a sculptural silhouette and add satin pumps and plenty of diamonds for a finish that feels both polished and playful.

Into the blue by Bliss

Whether a pale powder hue or a bright pop of cobalt, blue is dominating this season. Stand out in a sea of florals by pairing a slinky satin slip with directional accessories. For a summer wedding, I love these Alaia mirrored wedge sandals or Mango ballet flats that will avoid you sinking into grass during the drinks reception.

Molten metallics by Jemima

Metallics are an easy way to create subtle impact with a look that transitions seamlessly from day to night. When it comes to colour, think warm over cool: champagne, bronze and rich chocolate will photograph beautifully in natural light and suit most skin tones. Let one piece lead and build everything else around it. Think statement sequins, liquid-finish fabrics and glossy gold jewellery.
